Anchors

Anchors are devices used to secure ships, boats, and other watercraft to the seabed, preventing them from drifting due to wind, waves, or water currents. They are typically made of metal and are connected to a vessel by chains, ropes, or cables.

Anchors work by either digging into the seabed or using their weight to hold a vessel in place. Different types of anchors are designed for various seabed conditions such as sand, mud, rock, or gravel. Common types include stockless anchors, admiralty anchors, mushroom anchors, and plough anchors.

Anchors have been used in maritime navigation for centuries and remain an essential part of marine transportation and safety. Modern ships usually carry multiple anchors for different operational requirements.

Apart from maritime use, the anchor is also recognized as a symbol of stability, hope, strength, and security in many cultures and organizations.<ref>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anchor</ref><ref>https://www.riteequipments.com/how-anchor-works-and-it-is-used-in-ship/</ref>
