NEP 2020

NEP 2020, or the National Education Policy 2020, is the education policy introduced by the Government of India to transform the country's education system and make learning more holistic, flexible, multidisciplinary, and skill-oriented. Approved on 29 July 2020, it replaced the National Policy on Education of 1986 and serves as a comprehensive framework for school education, higher education, and vocational training.

The policy aims to improve the quality, accessibility, affordability, and inclusiveness of education while promoting critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and lifelong learning. One of its key reforms is the introduction of the 5+3+3+4 curricular structure, replacing the traditional 10+2 system. It also emphasizes foundational literacy and numeracy, experiential learning, multilingual education, and the integration of vocational skills into mainstream education.

NEP 2020 encourages multidisciplinary higher education, academic flexibility, research and innovation, digital learning, and the use of technology in education. The policy seeks to prepare students with twenty-first-century skills and promote India's development as a global knowledge society.

The National Education Policy 2020 is regarded as one of the most significant educational reforms in India, influencing schools, colleges, universities, teachers, researchers, and learners across the country.
