Dr. Rahul Singh is an Indian legal academician, researcher, lawyer and social activist. He is currently serving as Assistant Professor (Guest Faculty) in the Department of Law at Prof. Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) University, Prayagraj — one of the prominent State Government universities in Uttar Pradesh.

Dr. Singh obtained his Ph.D. in Law from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Shakeel Ahmad and Dr. Mohammad Nasir. His doctoral research, titled "Protection of Children from Sexual Offences: A Socio-Legal Study with Special Reference to Human Rights", reflects his deep engagement with issues of child protection, human rights and social justice. He has also qualified the UGC-NET examination twice — demonstrating exceptional academic competence and commitment to legal scholarship.

With more than 10 years of combined academic and research experience across reputed institutions and universities in India, Dr. Rahul Singh has established himself as a dedicated legal educator and researcher. His areas of specialisation include Human Rights, Constitutional Law, Cyber Law, Criminal Justice and Gender Justice.

Dr. Singh has made significant academic contributions through his extensive publications — including more than 25 research papers, 10 edited books and 10 book chapters published in national and international journals and edited volumes. He has attended more than 25 Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) and has actively participated in numerous seminars, conferences, workshops and faculty development programmes across India.

In recognition of his academic and social contributions, Dr. Rahul Singh has been honoured with several prestigious awards — including the ICSSR Fellowship (2021), the Mahatma Gandhi Nation Pride Award (2025) and the Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Visionary Mentor Award (2025).

Background

Dr. Rahul Singh was born on 15 January 1992 into a poor middle-class farmer family in the village of Gopalpur (Bhootpura), Sasni, Hathras, Uttar Pradesh — which was formerly part of Aligarh district before the formation of Hathras as a separate district in 1997. His early life was marked by struggle, hardship and limited resources — experiences that deeply shaped his personality, values and determination toward education and social justice.

He was profoundly inspired by his grandfather, Late Shree Pannalal — whose life of perseverance, discipline and resilience became a guiding force in his journey. His parents, Shree Prem Chand and Shreemati Umesh Devi — along with his grandfather — faced immense struggles and hardships to provide him with a better future and strong moral values. Dr. Singh has always regarded his grandfather as his greatest role model — drawing inspiration from his sacrifices, determination and unwavering commitment to family and hard work.

He shares a close bond with his siblings — Anjali, Advocate Ranjeet Kumar and Kharendra Kumar (Rohit) — whose constant encouragement and support have remained an important part of his life. From an early age, he developed a deep interest in law, justice and academic scholarship — believing that education and legal awareness are powerful instruments for social transformation and justice.

His academic journey — from his undergraduate legal education to his doctoral research at Aligarh Muslim University — has been characterised by intellectual dedication, scholarly excellence and a strong commitment to ethical legal practice. Throughout his career, he has consistently sought to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of legal education, constitutional values and the protection of human rights in India.

Dr. Rahul Singh represents the ideal of a modern legal scholar whose role extends far beyond the classroom. He views law not merely as a system of rules — but as a dynamic instrument for justice, equality, social reform and democratic transformation. Dr. Rahul Singh is currently serving as Assistant Professor (Guest Faculty) in the Department of Law at Prof. Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) University, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. In this capacity, he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate law students — bringing academic rigour, clarity and dedication to legal education. His teaching areas include Cyber Law, Human Rights Law, Constitutional Law, Criminal Justice, Gender Justice and Administrative Law.

His teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that legal education must be closely connected with ethical values, constitutional morality and social responsibility. He strongly advocates for a system of legal education that prepares future lawyers and scholars to uphold justice, equality and the rule of law in India.
